Leagues
Currently we play a wide variety of league games every week during the Winter Season, including time-limited and set formats, as well as a spoons ladder format and our very competitive Cash Challenge League.
A player can enter as many leagues as they wish. To play in a league, the player must be a member of EDIBC, with the exception of the Tuesday Evening Triples Cash Challenge which invites teams from other bowls clubs who play for significant cash prizes.
We also play in various external leagues for both Men and Ladies; for historical reasons, our Men are affiliated to Hampshire Indoor Bowls whilst our Ladies are affiliated to Dorset Indoor Bowls.
Inter-club Leagues
EDIBC participates in the Men’s Bramley league played with clubs in Hampshire. Also the Men’s Wessex League and the Ladies Dorset League.
Men’s Bramley League
This League is open to all clubs affiliated to the Hampshire Indoor Bowls Association, and all clubs play each other. The League winners are presented with the Bramley Bowl whilst the runner-up receive the Trisham Trophy.
Men’s Wessex League
The Wessex Bowls League was set up in 1983 to cover the ancient kingdom of the West Saxons and covering 12 counties. Now comprising eight regions stretching from Plymouth in the west to Rivermead (Reading) in the east, from Church Gresley (Derbyshire) in the north to Bournemouth in the south, East Dorset IBC plays in the Coastal Region, with top teams going forward into Play-off finals.
Ladies Dorset League
Administered by the Dorset County Ladies Bowling Association, this league has two divisions made up of teams from Dorset’s indoor bowling clubs. Each team is made up of two rinks of four ladies and Clubs may enter as many teams as they wish; teams play each other both home and away. We have three teams; Stour, Avon and Mude – and we choose from the list of ladies who have indicated their wish to play in these leagues.
