About Us

The home of friendly bowls
Founded in 1977, we take pride in being the first purpose-built indoor bowling club in the area.
With a thriving, growing membership, East Dorset Indoor Bowls Club is a friendly club offering six full length rinks equipped with electronic scoreboards, a licensed bar and restaurant. We have an electronic booking system which members can access remotely to book rink space to bowl.
During the Winter season, we operate some 20 leagues during the week and a number of internal competitions. We also participate in local, County, Regional and National competitions as well as many friendlies. During the Summer season, we run a slightly reduced programme of leagues and competitions.
Inclusivity
We have wheelchair friendly access to our club and have a specially adapted wheelchair so that disabled people can enjoy bowling and the companionship that the sport is known for. We have special equipment to assist people who may have difficulty bending down, to play bowls. The club has a lift to allow access to the upper floor where meetings and social events take place.
Safeguarding and Welfare
A team of safeguarding and welfare officers, ensure all members enjoy the experience of bowling in complete safety.
New Members
If you are new to bowling, you can start at any time. Our comprehensive beginner’s programme, suitable for all ages and abilities, runs continuously throughout the year. It is organised by our team of accredited bowls coaches. To get started, read more about our coaching here, or why not try our free taster session?
If you are an existing bowler looking to join us, please drop in for a chat and a coffee at any time to view our facility and ask any questions you may have. If you prefer to make an appointment all our contact details are on our Contact Page.
Leagues
We have an extensive programme of internal leagues covering several formats of the game of bowls. Singles, pairs, triples and fours, for both men and women and mixed.
Competitions
We also run internal knockout competitions across a variety of formats of the game.

Friendlies
We also play a number of friendlies throughout the year both home and away.
