Competitions
EDIBC runs a comprehensive portfolio of internal competitions for men and women, culminating in an exciting Finals weekend and Presentation Night. Success internally allows progression to County Finals and beyond.
Club competitions are open to all paid-up members. Each round of a competition has a closing date and the challenger will offer two dates no less than 14 days before that date, including weekends and evenings.
A different format competition, the 101 Cup Singles, scores the four woods nearest the jack – nearest 4 points, next nearest 3 points, next 2 and then 1, regardless of player – first to 101 wins.
Our Cygnets (novices) also have annual Singles and Pairs competitions.
Yetton Cup and Plate
In the “Yetton”, we have an extensive programme of internal leagues covering several formats of the game of bowls. Singles, pairs, triples and fours, for both men and women and Club provides four teams each of four Lady players; in each round of this National knockout competition, two teams play at home and two teams play away. Winning teams go on to challenge for the Yetton Cup whilst first round losers become eligible for the Yetton Plate. Matches are typically played at 10:00 am on Saturdays.
Mason Trophy
Mason Trophy is open to clubs entering two teams of four Ladies, all of which are over the age of 60 before October 1st of the Championship year. Elimination matches are played in a one home/one away format on a schedule of dates set out by the EIBA.
Over 60s Double Rink
Similar to the Mason Trophy above, and as the name implies, the Over 60s Double Rink is open to clubs submitting two teams of four Men all of which are over the age of 60 before October 1st in the Championship year. Elimination matches are played in a one home/one away format on a schedule of dates set out by the EIBA.
Vivienne
The Ladies Vivienne Trophy comprises four teams of triples with each elimination round played with two at home and two away. Matches are played on dates scheduled by the EIBA.
Denny Cup and Plate
Like the Ladies Yetton above, the Men’s “Denny” is exactly the same format with winning teams challenging for the Denny Cup and first round losers for the Denny Plate. Matches are typically played at 10:00 am on Saturdays.
Top Club
In many respects the most challenging of all National Championships, Top Club entries consist of 11 players – Ladies and Men – who will play:
Mixed (two men and two ladies) fours
Mixed (any combination) triples
Mixed Pairs
Men’s and Ladies 2-wood singles
Elimination matches are played on a schedule of dates set out by the EIBA.
