Whether you are an existing bowler or are thinking about taking up a new hobby, indoor lawn bowls could be just what you are looking for. The precision and skill of the game is engaging and it is a great way to build up a new social circle.
Age isn’t a factor, we have members still at school through to some in their 90s. And if, for whatever reason, you can’t take part in strenuous activity, bowls could be the perfect sport for you. If you fancy giving it a go, let us explain how.
The objective of lawn bowls – to give the game its correct title – is simple: just get your bowls as close as possible to a small yellow or white ball called the ‘jack’.
It might sound easy, but the fact that the bowls do not travel in a straight line, and there may be other bowls already up there, seriously adds to the tactical challenge.
Add to that the concentration and effort required and you can see why you may need a seat and a few beers or a glass of wine after the match!
